We now have a 6 year old Adri and a 4 year old Sammy! I'm not sure where these past few years have gone (and I know I say this every single year), but they need to slow down!!! I heard from a friend that once your children are in school, time will fly and you will have a hard time even remembering the little things with everything else going on. I have to concur. Adri is in kindergarten (moving on to first next year!) and my catch phrase is "holy cow, is it May already!!!???" I'm still stuck in September, when school started and I could kind of still breathe. Wait, who am I kidding? The last time I was able to breathe was probably last summer, middle August before my meetings and work started on my own school year. Back when the kids and I had no deadlines and we could sit in our pajamas or go to the beach, whichever we chose. Oh, wait, we're four weeks away from those days again. :) This summer my goal is to remember each and every day (most likely in pictures, so I can look back and smile when I see happiness on those sweet faces) and just to breathe. We have lots of plans (camping, beach, play dates, etc) and are excited to begin!
I digress. Sam is extremely excited to begin his own adventures in kindergarten. He talks about going to school all the time. This is probably due to the fact that his sister has become unbelievably knowledgeable in all things worldly (or so she thinks), and Sam would like to follow in her footsteps. Unfortunately for Sam Man, he has another year before he gets to attend. :( It's a good thing that Adri can share everything she learns.
Before I move on to the pictures, here's a little story that reminds me of the quote "Your children will become who you are, so be who you want them to be."
Adri was talking with Matt and I one night, telling us a story about something or other. She mentioned that someday she will have to kiss a boy. I asked her what she was talking about (I was NOT ready to have the boy kissing conversation with my then 5 year old!) and why she thought she would have to kiss a boy. Her answer? "Well, someday I will be married like you and Daddy and my husband and I will have to kiss each other hello and goodbye, just like you and Daddy." At that moment I realized, every single thing I do is being watched by two very observant pairs of eyes. It has always been in my mind that they watch and hear everything that I (we) do, but never was it more apparent than at that very moment. :)
