Prequel to a fun filled summer?

For the past few days Adri and Sammers have been playing outside every opportunity that arises. Yesterday Adri decided that she is now a bug queen and turned over every rock and log she could locate on the property to find worms, centipedes, and other bugs. The girl has zero fear, ripping those squishy worms right out of their holes and then plopping them into her clear viewing glass. She was in absolute heaven and couldn't wait for Daddy to get home today so she could repeat the task.

Sammy (as well as Adri) has decided that he's in love with the water table that Aunt Shannon gave him for his birthday. He spent the better part of last night playing in it after Daddy set it up for him. I made sure to put hot water in it, which probably did little to detract from the coldness of it once he was soaked. :) He failed to cry when he was outdoors in the decreasing temperatures in soaked clothing...He did cry when I brought him indoors to peel the cold clothing from his little body. Apparently braving soaked clothing is worth it to play in the water.

Adri and Sammy's other favorite activity lately is the sandbox. They both love to sit in it and dig (Sam's eats a little too), then fill buckets of sand. Hopefully all of these activities located right in our backyard will mean that this summer is going to be fun filled and relaxed. :)

Here's some of the photos from yesterday's activities:

Sweet! They look bigger when I put the lid on!

Easter Festivities...Better late than never!

As I've mentioned, oh, about a bagillion times, I'm in the last few weeks of my two grad classes with a ton of course work looming over me (a 30 pg and two 10 pg papers due by next week, cited APA style WITH abstracts), so please forgive me for being a tad late on my blogging duties from this weekend. :)

We had a wonderful Easter! Our Easter festivities began on Saturday with an egg hunt at Victory Church (one in which Adri froze up and refused to participate when all the action started) and then egg decorating here at our house. The only casualty that came out of our egg decorating was our kitchen table that now has a robin's egg blue stain to it and a few cracked eggs as well as one that Adri mushed to see what was inside. Thanks Adri!

Easter day began with me waking the kids up to see what E.B. had left for them. Adri began eating candy the minute she woke up, commencing only at the end of the night when she fell into bed and immediately went to sleep. I'm still in awe that she didn't get sick, I waited the entire day to see how much candy she could actually eat before it all came back up, but she kept it down. Apparently it takes a lot more candy.

After checking out the Easter baskets we made our way over to Boo Boo's and P-Pa's for breakfast, more candy, and another egg hunt. This time Adri gladly collected eggs, even letting Sam Man have some of his own. She had the entire egg hunt to herself and ran around with a huge smile on her face, relishing all of the attention.

Our afternoon was spent at Nana and Papa's with immediate and extended family. It was fantastic to see everyone! Adri and Sammy had the time of their lives, playing with the adults, eating candy and sweets, and then having dinner. I'm beginning to think Adri is under the impression that people get together JUST to see and play with her, since whenever there is a get together there is always someone playing toys on the floor with her and Sammy.

Adri got lucky enough to have ANOTHER egg hunt in which all the cousins helped her look for eggs. Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, candy and a dead frog viewing later, we were all ready to say good night and get home.

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic Easter!!! We really enjoyed spending the weekend with you!

Whachya got there Adri? Candy? I think E.B. left those eggs for both of us you know!

Sweet! You know I'll be chewing on that as soon as you put it down! Do raccoons like slobber baths?

I have a very methodical way of eating this bunny, Mom...First you eat off the eyes and nose.

Thanks for the bunny J!
From Spring2011

Okie dokie...Done with the front. Time to eat the back now.
From Spring2011

Final result of the bunny...Adri fell and so did the rabbit, breaking in half. We convinced her to throw it away after that (by bribing her with clean candy).

I want to be a teacher Mama...

I'm taking a quick break from paper writing at the library to complete a blog today...How dedicated am I? :)

Adri-ism of the day:

Adri:
Ugggh...I just want to pull my hair out!

Me:
Pull.your.hair.out? Why?

Adri:
Because I just want to pull it out. I want to pull my hair out because you're being naughty Mommy. Do you want to pull your hair out Mommy?

Me:
Uh no, not right now.

Adri:
Does Diego want to pull his hair out?

Me:
I don't think so, I think he's pretty happy right now.

Adri:
Oh, ok.

and another one:

Adri:
My wand is magic. I sing songs when I wave my wand. Look! (singing) Rainbows, Rainbows, look at my rainbow...

Me:
Wow Adri! That's a great song!

Adri:
It's my magic song. You can't have it.

Me:
Ok, but I like hearing it. Can you sing it again?

Adri:
No! You can't hear it! I'm going to use magic to put my pull up on!

Me:
I think we're going to need magic to get you to take a nap today! Do you have any for that?

Adri:
No! Look! I put my pull up on over my pants and big girl underwear! I have magic pull ups! I told you that my wand was magic!

Me:
(slapping forehead) Ugggghhhh...

Mama, look! I'm a teacher like you!
From Spring2011

Is this the look that you do when the kids are being naughty?
From Spring2011

Or is it like this, the one you do to me when I act naughty?
From Spring2011

This is Daddy's angry look!
From Spring2011

I think teachers should do this face all the time...It would make the kids happy to see it.
From Spring2011

You'd be a good teacher Adri! I love to see you smile! (It really beats the alternative...DRAMA!)
From Spring2011

I don't know why I have to sit here and be so quiet just because Adri's sleeping...She should learn to sleep through the noise like me!
From Spring2011

How long have you had this t.v. Mama, since 1980? This remote is HUGE!
From Spring2011

Is Adri coming? Did I wake her up?
From Spring2011

Here, take it Mama...This is too old school for me! I like my technology sleek and modern.
From Spring2011

Yeah, you see that drool? It's called teething and it isn't fun!!! Be happy you can't remember these days!
