A little more Memorial weekend fun!

We had to pack in some more family fun today before the holiday ends abruptly and we're back to work (some of us only for 9 more days) :), and so we took a road trip to Fruitport for their Old Fashioned Days.  They had an exotic zoo and plenty to do, unfortunately we were a day early for the parade, and didn't get to enjoy that.  We did, however, enjoy a pony ride and one other ride for each child.  (This fair was expensive, and, well, I'm married to a Dutch (ahem, I mean frugal) man.)

This has got to be the cutest Sandy look alike I've ever seen!!!  Who needs a llama when you have a dog that looks just like this?

Sam even begged to ride the Ferris Wheel!!!  He will just have to wait until we go to Michigan's Adventure with Grandpa.  :)

After we finished in Fruitport, we made our way to Pottawatomie Park in Grand Haven to meet an old friend, Ms. Erin and her 3 Things.  She is amazing.  She has two children AND a small baby (both of her older children are the ages of Sam and Adri).  I don't know how she does it, but I'm hoping whatever she was guzzling when she got out of her van was an energy drink!  I would need about 10 of them to keep up with her 3!

Our picnic lunch when we got to the park.  Adri insisted that we each on the ground and not at the picnic tables in order to have a picnic.

I told Sam he could put his feet in the water, guess I should have clarified what I meant by "feet".

Matt shows Thing 1 and Thing 2 how to fish...

 Meet Thing 1, Gabe.

And Thing 2, who never sits down...

And, the newest addition, Thing 3-Sophia.  Mama Erin has her hands FULL!!!

Adri was beyond excited to hold the baby.  Her first time holding a baby.

Pure sweetness.  Makes me want another one...

Pickeral Lake Bluegill!!!

Yesterday we took the two monsters to go fishing at Pickeral Lake, out by Townsend Park (the site of our wedding--I LOVE telling the kids that story every time we go to play there!).  They have developed a passion for fishing, especially Adri, who is especially difficult when forcing her to leave.  (Just like her Mama when it comes to fishing!  It doesn't matter if they're biting, it's the chance they might bite if you leave!)  (There's no fooling Adri with the "no lights on the boat" when it gets too dark, Papa.  She'll talk you into staying later to fish!)

Needless to say, they had the a blast and caught 8 or 9 Bluegill, a few of them very large!  Papa came along with us, so Sam was able to get his much needed "Papa time" in since all he does is ask to see or talk to his Papa.

Beautiful Pickeral Lake.

Adri daydreams of the fish she's going to catch as Papa gets her pole ready.

"Are there any fish down there, Papa?"

Sam stands on a bucket to be closer to Papa and see over the railing...

Sammer's first fish of the day!

Proud little man shows off his fish.  Not sure what the tongue is about...

Adri will not be outdone...She catches a fish too!

Fishing is serious business for these boys!!!

Adri scared of a worm (or snake, bug, etc)?  No way!!!

 Poor dead dragonfly!

Sam got bored with fishing once they stopped biting every two seconds, so he played Fruit Ninja on Mama's phone to pass the time...

Adri has not time for games, she's too busy catching fish!!!

Will they bite again, Papa?
