You Are My Sunshine...: November 2014

It's Autumn, or should we say the verge of winter since we have some crazy snow storm on it's way (or not-depending on if you believe the wild words of the weathermen).

We now have a first grader and a preschooler that is getting ready for kindergarten!!! Adri began the new year a little nervous, she was sure she would miss her kindergarten teacher a lot. Lucky for Adri, her kindergarten teacher is right across the hall AND she has an amazing first grade teacher!!! (Adri has already started planning her Christmas present).

A couple of milestones for Adri: she has her first loose tooth! It is the bottom front left one. She is so excited to finally have a loose tooth (all of her friends have lost multiple teeth) and have the tooth fairy come to visit her. Although she has a long way before it comes out, she is overjoyed, non the less.

Another milestone for Adri is that she sat down and read an entire book to me before bed one night! It wasn't one of her grade level books that were sent home, but a Cat in the Hat book! I wanted to cry in excitement! It is so amazing to see her go from sounding out letters to reading! She has now been reading "big kid" books frequently.

Sammer Man has been busy also!!! Besides always having the energy to go, go, go, he finally drew me a picture of a person. He has been tricking me for a long time saying that he couldn't draw a person (the first step to reading and writing). I convinced him to do it, and he made one with ease!!! That little trickster!!!

Sam's other exciting moment happened yesterday when he wrote his name on the window in the condensation. We were all extremely excited to see this and he was very proud of his work. :)

Last Saturday I took Adri and Sam to Disney's Super Hero 6 for a private showing. I didn't think we would last at the movie long, but both of them wanted to stay until the end to watch the entire movie!!! They chose to sit up in the very top row and sat in their seats for most of the movie before Sam decided to sit in my lap and cuddle and Adri decided to get out of her seat and stretch her legs in the open area next to our seats. Sam enjoyed the movie so much, he now does the fist bump he learned in the movie with the little explosion sound at the end. :)
