Life is finally slowing down a little...

Since beginning this school year, I have been so busy I barely have time to think.  Between spending a copious amount of time at school (most days around 10 hours) and more time lesson planning and paper grading, and then on top of that taking my Master's class, things have been pretty insane.  I'm pretty out of touch with everything else besides work these days and have had little to no time to do the things I love; spend time with my family and take photos!  The good news is, things are finally coming together in my classroom and I'm getting the swing of teaching third grade (as opposed to the one subject of middle school I've done in the past years).  I am LOVING the younger students and doubt I will be returning to middle school, unless forced.  Even though I am busier and crazier than ever before, I don't feel stressed.  It's odd actually because I have so much more to plan, teach, and do; but I think it's because I actually enjoy these things and enjoy being in my classroom every day with my students, that I'm not stressed.  I have a wonderful class with amazing little personalities.

Adri and Sammy have been lucky in having me teach elementary this year because they have been able to accompany me to school events and actually enjoy them.  They love visiting my classroom and playing with the students (all of whom hug and love on them when they come in as well as make them special pictures for me to bring to home) and going along with me when we have fundraisers such as Chuck E Cheese and Barnes and Noble.  Tomorrow night we will be going to a movie that our school is putting on in the evening.  I'm guessing this will be Sammy and Adri's favorite to date since they LOVE movie nights and they will have popcorn and get to play with the other students.

Some of the new things the kids are doing: Sammy is finally going potty on the potty!!!  He's also started talking in complete sentences and to the point that we can understand his wants and needs!  This is huge because up until this point he hasn't been.  Adri has started sounded out letters and can read actual words!!!  She also started riding a two wheel bike this summer (she's the only one in her class at school that can ride a two wheeler!)  She is taking tumbling classes and learning all kinds of new ways to move her body!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the past few months...Now that we're getting back into the swing of things, perhaps I can start taking more photos and blogging.  ;)  Sometimes I just love my optimism.  :D

The three musketeers.  Adri and Sam must have tired Sandy out...

Movie night!  Look who had to join the picture!!!

 Art Prize 2012

If Daddy can carry Sammy, he can sure carry Adri too!!!

The kids favorite part of Art Prize?  Rolling down the hill by the Ford Museum, of course...

 Adri's idea of "modeling".

Perhaps the cutest boy that has ever lived...

 Sam's favorite thing to do...

Guess which 4.5 year old learned to ride a 2 wheeler this Summer???

 Can you spot the Adri???

On top of being incredibly smart thing little girl is an athlete!!!  She did this three different times in just this playground trip, making it all the way to the end each time!

I just love her face in this one...

Something is always in motion on Adri...

Anything Adri can do Sam can do too!!!

Sandy got loose, so Adri and Daddy ran after her.  Extremely comical at the time.  I think Adri beat Matt in reaching Sandy.

 An adorable little Triceratops...

Adri's very special unicorn/pegasus costume.  We searched every where for this...

 Mommy and Sam Man...

 Ahhh!  It's a vampire!!!

Not sure this is even safe, but you might call it red neck surfing.  I have no other name for it.

The most beautiful dog in the world!

The look in her eye says it all...

Sam jumped on her when she was in the leaves.  Adri was pretty upset...

Sam may be playing, but Adri means business!!!

Proud little man because he can ride a two wheeler!

Our new addition, Oreo Cookie Dough

 Halloween 2012!!!

Adri and Oreo cuddle.  Adri's not feeling well.

 Tonight's activity, cupcake decorating!

Adri's rendition of "Mommy's angry face"

Adri-ism from today: While I was bathing Sandy tonight Adri asked me "Mommy, can we eat Sandy?"  "What?!" I asked her.  "Can we eat her?" she repeated.  "Or would we have to kill her to eat her?"  I was totally taken off guard and not sure where she was going with this.  "Um, we would have to kill her to eat her.  If you want to eat an animal you have to kill it."  I responded.  "Oh!  Well I don't want Sandy to die!  We better not eat her."  she said.  "Good idea."  Adri turns back to Sandy and starts petting her while I wash her, "We won't eat you Sandy, don't worry!"

Sammy-ism from today:  Mommy!  I pee on the potty twice today!  Adri broke window!  (Sam threw a toy at school and broke a window and he keeps insisting it was Adri.

  1. Adri made a paper chain of her entire family today. It was adorable and she was so proud! Your babies are getting so big!
