Our new addition...

Let me preface this post by stating that I am not insane. Seriously. Our new addition was not adopted to add more insanity to the house, instead I wanted to add a family member; a companion. Whether or not this is what I did remains to be seen. :)

We added the most beautiful 9 month old black lab to our family. His name is Max and he's fitting in quite nicely if you're able to look past his puppy energy, eagerness, and general oaf-ness. :) At 9 months he's weighing in at 73 lbs and is promising to grow even larger over the next few months.

We've got a lot of work to do with training him, especially his leash walking skills. I took him to Riverside on my nightly walk the other day. We made it the entire three miles through the park, but he gave me a total body workout with the pulling and wrapping the leash around my legs every few seconds. I can imagine what we must have looked like in our owner/dog dance through the park; ridiculous.

Today we brought him to Townsend Park where he drug me to the water and then jumped in, nearly pulling me with him. He spent his afternoon standing in and drinking the creek. He then came home to have a bath where he stood in the pool. A short while later I brought him to the neighbor's to meet his new playmate, a female black lab. He romped with her for awhile before deciding he needed to cool off in the koi filled pond. He stood there staring at us while we tried pulling him out, slipping off his collar and standing his ground. He absolutely wouldn't get out of the pond. I finally coaxed him out by bribing him with a walk. The dog is smart, he's got that going for him. He spent the rest of his night sleeping on the living room floor (completely out of character for him...he is FULL of energy), obviously tired out from all of his exercise and excitement today.

Adri-isms:
I can't talk right now because I'm in a big hurry! I have to go home and check on Daddy!

I brought up Max's water but I spilled a lot of it.

This is my dog Max. He's my dog because we get to keep him forever.

Sammy-isms:

Dada! (said when he actually needs his dada)
igh! (for hi and bye)

Sam has recently begun going to the kitchen closet and screaming when he wants food, trying to open the doors.
