Butterflies, squirrels and ducks...Oh My!

We arrived first thing at the Garden's this morning to see the butterflies with P-Pa and Boo Boo, who haven't had the chance to visit before. Luckily we got there when it opened because not only were we able to get a close parking spot, but we also beat the rush. (By beat the rush I mean there was literally a line behind us when we went in and people actually waiting for our parking spot when we left.) It was so nice to be in the warmth of the greenhouse and out of that frigid air today! (When are we supposed to get that warm weather? I am SO ready!)

Oh yeah...Butterflies again!

This afternoon we decided to go feed the ducks at Riverside Park. While I was getting Sammy out of his car seat I felt something brush against my leg and saw a little patch of fur go scurrying under our car. I asked Matt if a squirrel had went under the car (it could only be a squirrel or duck) and he said no. All of a sudden I heard Adri on the other side of the car with Matt telling him there was a squirrel underneath. I walked around their side of the car just in time to see her bending down under the car and trying to pet the squirrel. (I seriously think this one experience added more gray hairs.) I started screaming "no!" and running over to her just as she calmly stood up and said "Look Mommy! There's a squirrel under the car!"

According to Matt, the squirrel actually came up to her and stuck it's nose against her finger. It was definitely friendly, too friendly for my liking.

The ducks LOVE when Adri feeds them...It all ends up in a pile and they have to do zero work to get it...

Yes Adri, you've managed to get into the water...The freezing cold water. Hope those rain boots don't leak!

And no Adri, you can't have one for your birthday!

Three years later and Adri still doesn't understand the concept of staying in one place to feed the ducks instead of chasing them to hand them the food...

I just thought it was funny to see a goose in with all the ducks, seagulls, and Canadian geese.

And finally, I want to give a special thanks to the middle aged lady that decided to bring her humongous bag of food and compete with my almost three year old daughter to feed the same ducks...How very kind of you.
