Splish, Splash!

We visited Lamar Park's splash pad today. It was a fantastically hot day for playing in the water since the mugginess that we've enjoyed the past few days refused to part ways again today.

When we visited this park last year, Adri was afraid to go into the water. She didn't disappoint when we first got there this time either. She was overly intimidated by the large group of kids on the splash pad and refused to go out and play, clinging to my leg. When she finally ventured into the water to play, she spent the rest of the time giggling and splashing, enjoying every minute in the water.

I thought for sure Sammy would be afraid of the water too, but he really surprised me. He went right into the water and played, curiously observing the water coming out of the sprinklers. He did unexpectedly get sprayed in the face and cried a couple of times, but he was quick to recover and continue playing and/or venturing off. I would have had pictures of this fun time at the park, but there wasn't an opportunity for picture taking since I was chasing Sammy each of the times he decided to go check out the surroundings around the splash pad. His curiosity never ceases to amaze me.

Adri and her horse...One day I'll ride that horse just as maniacally as she does!

This dragonfly flew on our back porch tonight. I doubt he knew what he was in for with the camera and two kids trying to get as close as possible to see him. He was an amazing site up close though!

Adri-isms:

Adri: (Sitting on her pillow with her hands underneath the pillow) Oh Mom. I just like to sit on my pillow. Just like this, see? Just sitting here on my pillow.

Me: (Looking at her funny until it dawned on me what she was actually doing) Sitting on your pillow, huh?

Adri: Yes. I like to sit on my pillow.

Me: Adri get up. What's under your pillow?

Adri: Nothing Mom! No, No!

Me: (pulling out one of Sam's confiscated pacifiers that she's hid under the pillow that she just likes to "sit" on). Adri! Ugggh! No more paci's!!! This is a baby paci!

Adri: But Mom! I just like pacis!
