Sunshine, heat, flowers and our little woodchuck...

Hello Sunshine-y day and extreme heat! It was a serious scorcher out when we joined our friends at Meijer Gardens this morning. Of course, our Van Dyke luck mandates that something must go wrong. What better thing could Meijer Gardens do on a +90 degree day that was so muggy you couldn't breathe besides close down and resurface the water table? A small problem on a normal day, yes. But this was the entire reason we had gone there; cool water for the kids to play in in a safe environment. We couldn't play anywhere else with it being so hot, so the kids were all packed into the tiny water sculpture at the entrance to the children's garden. About a half hour or so of this, heat, and whiny kids and we decided it was time for lunch and then a nap at home. I'm really curious why they couldn't have done this work during May? Why close for three weeks at the end of the school year and a heat wave. Way to think that one out Meijer Gardens!

I am eagerly optimistic that this weekend will bring cooler temperatures for the fireworks at the Start of Summer in Rockford...
