It all began yesterday when Adri all of a sudden decided that she LOVES dolls. She just had to bring along her two cabbage patch dolls (found hidden in a mound of toys downstairs...the toys that she never plays with) over to Boo Boo's house. She brought them to the car and then told me that they needed to be "buckled so they can be safe", and then proceeded to buckle one in the seat belt between the car seats and one in the front seat. The only thought running through my head was the story I would tell a police officer if I was to be stopped for any reason, the one explaining why I had a naked doll strapped into the front passenger seat.
Ah, yes. Naked. Every single doll that Adri owns is NAKED. Naked as in not a stitch of clothing on any of them. In my adult mind, I don't understand this. Adri can explain it well though. "My dolls don't like to wear clothes. They want to feel the air." Ok, yup, I'd say that explains it all.
Today we went to the store and she begged for a Barbie. Since she doesn't own one yet, I agreed to buy it, thinking she'd want one that goes into the bathtub or pool. Of course not. She didn't stray far from her roots, she wanted one that has a horse. So now Adri is the proud owner of a Barbie and another horse, of which she has spent the entire afternoon playing with the horse. Poor Barbie is lying naked a few feet away from me while Adri is contentedly trotting the horse around the living room.
Perhaps Adri doesn't like dolls as much as she thought. Maybe, just maybe she will skip past the doll phase and stay my little tomboy. :) A Mommy can always hope, right?
