Another Snip It's adventure!

The next time I decide to bring two sleep deprived children to get their hair cut at Snip It's, please remind me of the following wonderful adventure.

Both kids were in need of a haircut. Sam's hair had started growing out after his last experience at Chic and was well, a little less than presentable. Adri's was just growing out, and while it always grows out nicely, I like to keep it shorter in the Summer. So, off to Snip It's we went.

By the time Adri realized what was going on, we were in the parking lot pulling into a parking spot.

"I don't want to get my hair cut!" she whined.

"Ok, Sammy will go first then." I replied.

"No. Neither of us want a haircut!" she told me matter of factly.

"Sorry, we're already here. We have to go in now. It will be alright, you'll be fine." I told her as I hurriedly got out of the car to get her out and then Sam.

As we walked in, Adri immediately began acting crazy; running around screaming and getting Sammy to do the same thing. I was pretty embarrassed and kept sitting her down and threatening to take things away.

"No ice cream!" I hissed at her as I sat her down. (We usually go to Cold Stone afer a haircut.)

Adri just looked at me with the maniacal look in her eyes, got up and began running around and laughing in a high pitch. Sammy immediately followed her. The other mother looked at me in empathy, probably remembering when her children were this age. (Her children were 7 and 5 and on their very best behavior. If that's what I get to look forward to in the future, I can't wait!)

Another round of sitting her down and telling her what she wasn't going to get did nothing for me.

"I told you I didn't want my hair cut." she told me as I sat her down on the chair after catching her.

Some days I swear, you would think she didn't know what she was doing, but after that comment I knew she knew exactly what she was up to. Uggggh. I knew this meant that I absolutely had to prove a point or lose all ground with her.

"Sit down and do not get up until you're going to get your hair cut. I'm not joking anymore. I'm getting very angry with you right now."

Apparently the look in my eyes did it for her. She sat down and waited while I chased Sammy around.

When it was our turn for a haircut, Sharon took Adri and the other girl took Sammy. Both kids began crying and screaming. Sammy was screaming because of the clippers and the fact that he was buckled into the seat and Adri was screaming because I wasn't near her while Ms. Sharon was cutting her hair. Adri's fit quickly turned into all out hysterical screaming, kicking and pushing. I tried going back and forth but by that time it was too late.

When Sammy was done, he and I went to sit by Adri to try to console her into relaxation. It didn't work. We had to get another stylist to hold her while Ms. Sharon quickly cut the rest of her hair.

When we were finished, Adri relaxed and got her toy and her and Sammy went into the party room to look around. Ms. Sharon followed her in there, noticed Adri was relaxed and back to herself and began cutting her hair again. Adri didn't even notice or care. She was looking at the pictures of other children that had had their birthday parties in the room and calmly talking to Ms. Sharon about it.

This is exactly what I love about Snip It's. They remember you when you come in there (in our case we've only gone to Ms. Sharon before and each and every time she remembers us and the previous things that have happened when we were there before) and know what accommodations your child might need. Our haircuts are always fabulous, despite the attitudes and or/behavioral problems the children might bring along that day. Ms. Sharon is always professional, always gets the job done, and does it with a happy face. I'm so glad that we began going to her a couple of years ago and that she's so great at helping me get through each haircut. :)

A few of the after pictures of the haircuts...

Mmmmm! Cupcakes! You can take as many pictures of me as you want Mama. As long as I'm eating, that is.
