I spent the morning cleaning the house, which was a feat in and of itself. Both kids decided they needed to be near me the entire time, right under my feet. As soon as I cleaned their toys from an area they pulled them back out and spread them on the floor. Sammy tried to use the vacuum as his personal walker, standing right up next to it while I was using it (and trying to stick his hands underneath it). I've never seen a child so enamored with a vacuum or anything else that is electrical. If he doesn't grow up to be an electrician or do something else in the electrical field I'd be surprised. Adri was right behind me as I mopped, steering her car through the trail of water. Yes, it was great fun trying to clean around them...I came up with all kinds of cleaning alternatives, that's for sure! More frustrating than trying to clean around them is to see that they can mess the house back up in less than a minute. My hours of hard work and sanity, gone just like that. I know some day I will miss the messiness, the toys, the crayons, and the food crumbs/smears/spills. It's just that today I'd like to enjoy the house spotless for a few minutes before they take their toys back out.
Sammy has a top front tooth coming in and it's driving him insane! He decided to go back to sleep this morning after a bout of grouchiness and ended up sleeping for two or three hours. His tooth hasn't actually poked through yet, so I think it's preventing him from sleeping as well as he usually does. He took another nap this afternoon and then went to bed at his normal 7:30 p.m. time.
Adri decided to forgo a nap today when I gave her the choice. She was, of course, a mess by the afternoon. She is a child that definitely still needs her naps!
I kept her busy this afternoon by allowing her to begin making the Valentine's for the people on her list. (A list that she came up with last week and includes about 12 people/family members.) She got about half way done before her attention span gave up. My plan is to finish her Valentine creations tomorrow because we need to start baking our cookies and cupcakes and getting the presents out to the recipients.
I'm so excited that Adri can actually make presents this year and can experience the happiness of giving the presents and happiness to other people. I want her to understand that presents don't have to be store bought, that the ones that come from your heart and are made with love are the best ones.
When Matt got home from work this afternoon he and Adri went outdoors to continue making her snow cave they began the day of the "Blizzard". She and Daddy had a blast! I think she really enjoyed the Daddy and Adri one on one time. (Not to mention that Mommy really doesn't like going in the snow when it's really cold out...I hate being cold!)
