Saturday morning we went to Schuler's Books to watch what was supposed to be story time with the Grand Rapids Ballet interpreting the story. It ended up being a male and female dancer. The male dancer read Tom Thumb to a room full of infants and toddlers, most of which were bored out of their minds and didn't have a clue what was going on in the story while the female sat next to him in her beautiful outfit. That was it. I'm still wondering why they didn't read a Valentine's or ballet story...Something more relevant at least! At the end, the ballerina showed a few of the basic steps, but honestly, it was a huge letdown. I thought she would be dancing the entire story and that it would be a halfway interesting story.

Adri's friend Lilah came to the mall with us after storytime(I had the kids run around like maniacs until they looked like they were going fall over), and then came back to our house to enjoy cupcakes and more play. I must have been insane giving Adri, Lilah and Sammy cupcakes! It took me at least a half hour to clean up the crumbs. Sammy was such a mess he has to be put into the bathtub, have his clothes peeled off, and get rinsed off. It was everywhere!

The tired trio zoning out (I'm thinking that Adri will never be able to spend alone time with friends...Sammy loves being around them too much!):

Saturday was Papa's birthday, so we were lucky enough to hand most of our Valentine's out to the people that attended dinner at Rio Grande with us. (We really really missed Nana, but hope she's enjoying her cruise!) Adri loved giving them to family members and watching their excitement. I think this is going to be our Valentine's Day ritual from here on out.

Our little angel missed out on her nap, so, needless to say, she was a mess by dinner time. I was desperate to have a halfway decent dinner, so I ordered Adri a virgin strawberry daiquiri to keep her relaxed for a bit. It worked! She absolutely loved the drink. Sammy enjoyed Adri's drink too and actually screamed for more each time we stopped giving it to him. (How long are his teething troubles going to go on?) Sammy's teeth are still bothering him, so he was a bit grouchy too. Luckily everyone fed him the entire time, most of which ended up in a big pile on the floor and the rest on his shirt.

Upon coming home after dinner, Adri went poopy in her diaper. I was downstairs getting ready to leave, when I heard Matt screaming for me to come upstairs and look. He was changing her diaper and freaking out because she had pooped red. I immediately got on the phone and called our pediatrician, ready to bring her to the hospital, med center, or wherever else they instructed when Matt told me he had figured it out. It had to be from the red velvet cupcakes. :) Nice! I went on the internet to check if this could actually happen before hanging up on the 5 minute long message at the ped's office. Lo and behold that was exactly what it was!!! Ugggh! I can honestly say that I never thought I would think about poopy so much before I had children. It seems to be the topic of every conversation though!
The rest of my night was spent with my friend Kylee, my Mom, and Jim and two other friends at the new casino in Gun Lake. I can honestly say that the casino is not my cup of tea. I can't stand the smoke, noise or gambling and ended up sitting and watching the interesting people most of the time I was there. I spent a total of $3.00 and regretted giving any of my money away. This will be my last trip to the casino...I can promise that.
Today I feel horrible after spending a few hours at the casino last night. My throat hurts and I feel sick. Hopefully it's just from the excessive smoke and lack of sleep and I'm not actually getting sick.
We had a huge breakthrough this afternoon in our household (more poopy conversation!). Adri took off her diaper this afternoon and couldn't get it back on. I decided to try something new. I told her I wouldn't put her diaper back on her until she went poop on the potty and that she could go naked until then. She screamed and cried for 45 minutes, throwing multiple fits but the entire time she kept going and sitting on the toilet and trying. I stayed out of the bathroom and let her scream at me, not giving her the reaction she was looking for. She ended up going poo poo, all by herself on the toilet! She is so proud and has been talking about it all day. The big thing is that she has tried to go many more times today!!! Maybe this is the turnaround we have been waiting for!!!
Adri's favorite thing to do lately is to wash her animals. Today she thought her balloon needed a good washing. There was water everywhere! A few hours after this event, I opened the drawer to find water puddled inside of it. I think we're going to have to watch her more closely or face a flooded bathroom as a result.
