We still aren't sure what we were thinking, bringing Adri into a restaurant during a busy time, but we made it out alive. She couldn't sit still, so I brought her to the front to look at the live lobsters. The greeter was nice enough to fish one out and let Adri pet it as well as show her how it's little claws work. Adri was mesmerized and gladly went back to the table afterwards to tell Daddy all about the lobster and eat her lunch (even though she didn't sit once, I'm thinking the key to peaceful meals out might be to let her stand and eat.). Adri and Sam both enjoyed Matt's salmon and my shrimp. I think we have a seafood loving family here.
Throughout lunch I kept reminding Adri that she could get chocolate cake at the end if she ate all her food, which kept her on track for the most part. Before the cake came Adri informed us it was just for her. She was still adamant when it came that it was ALL hers (it was HUGE and came with whipped cream and ice cream! there's no way she could have ate it all, although she did attempt it!). Our waitress jokingly said "Oh, she must be two!" How'd she know? (Was it that Adri couldn't sit still, that she was talking super loud, the food on the floor, or the wanting all of something?)
When the cake was gone Adri decided there was still one more bite left on the plate that she couldn't quite scrape up with her spoon. She picked up the plate to start licking it (where was this child raised!!??) when I grabbed it out of her hands and explained that we don't lick the plate. (Can you say mortified?!) (Not that it hasn't been explained before, it's just that when you're two and you have a plate that once held chocolate cake in front of you all the past teachings go out the window.)
When we left the floor was covered with everything that we had given to both kids and Adri was on a major sugar buzz. :) What better time to bring her to Gander Mountain to help Daddy pick out new sunglasses?
Oh yes, and the parts to fix Adri's horse have finally arrived!!! Thank goodness! I don't think I could have handled another day of her asking if the horse is still broken, going over and petting and reassuring the horse that it will be fixed soon, explaining to Sammy that he can't go near the horse because it's broke, and whining that she wants to ride her horse. She spent the afternoon riding like a maniac, which is unfortunate for Daddy who was trying to watch a movie and couldn't hear anything over the springs of the horse.
