Potty Training...Day 1

The Diaper Fairy visited our house last night. She took Adri's diapers (conveniently storing them in Sam's closet for his future use), and left Adri big girl undies, waterproof undies for Mama's sake, and finger paints for use in the bathtub (Target was having an awesome sale, I couldn't refuse!).

When Adri woke up this morning I let her know that the Diaper Fairy had left her something on the table. Adri was ecstatic when I read her the note and ran into her room to get her underwear on. She spent the day going to the bathroom on the potty (and negotiating suckers and toys for each time she went). She also went poop on the potty (which she has only done twice before), which made me VERY happy! I wasn't concerned about her peeing, but I was extremely worried about her going poop since she always tells me "I will go soon Mama, soon" and soon had never come yet.

She ended up having two accidents today; one pee when she was playing and one poop. I have no idea what the poop accident was about. She decided to go under the table after walking around the house tooting (which she wouldn't own up to). I asked her about ten times if she needed to go to the bathroom (although I didn't think she would need to, since she had already gone earlier) and she said no each time. As she was going under the table Matt asked her what she was doing. I told him "she's pooping, that's what she always does when she goes." Sure enough, you could see her filling her pants as it came out. Uggggh. Me being the Mom of the Year that I am, I let Matt know that he could clean it up. :) I change diapers all day every day, it's not going to hurt him to change her once in awhile. (I know that this is totally different than changing diapers, but to tell the truth, I was dry heaving at this point and didn't think my stomach could handle that mess after smelling the stench that accompanied it.) I think the only thing that might make me turn back on this potty training adventure would be the poopy undies. I don't think I can handle that.

Here's to hoping for a fantastic potty training day tomorrow (and no poopy underwear!).

Oh yes, and Adri's horse is broken again. She and her friend Eli were taking turns riding it when another of the links broke. (Darn, I haven't been able to listen to it for two days now!) Matt checked over all of parts (screws, links, nuts, bolts, springs) and let me know that the entire horse needs a overhaul. He's going to put all new parts on it because apparently the bolts are being completely worn through from the friction between them and the springs. (The brand new springs are also showing wear!) My question once again is how can an almost three year old do this kind of damage to the horse? I know she's a maniac, but geesh!
