Mind you, we don't have any pets, (unless you count our rabbit that lives outside in it's hutch) but when I read there would be a petting zoo and pony rides, I was sold (anything is better than being cooped up in the house all day).
I had planned for it to be an Adri and Mommy day, but once Matt heard that Adri was going to ride a pony, he couldn't stand to be left behind, and decided that he and Sammy would join us.
When Adri heard that she'd be riding a pony she became immediately hyperactive, running around the house screaming "I want to ride a black pony, no, I want to ride a brown pony! I'm going to ride a pony!!!" There is nothing that makes her more excited than the prospect of getting to see or ride a horse. All she could talk about the whole way to the Delta Plex and while we were looking for the pony rides was riding a pony and how excited she was.
As she was riding the horse she actually told Matt he didn't have to walk next to her, that she could do it alone because she wasn't scared!
Here are photos from our adventure:
Can you say pure joy?

Too bad the horse's head is cut out of this picture...I was trying to get the happy glow on Adri's face though.

The goat won't come over, maybe I can pet a humongous rabbit instead?

When we returned home I was walking past Sammy's bedroom and found him like this...

As I write this Adri has just cried herself to sleep, without her pacifier for the first time in a year. Tonight is the big night that the paci-fairy is coming to take them away from her. She was extremely upset and screamed and cried when she was put down for bed, but we held strong and she's now sleeping. There has never been a more perfect time to take it away, she hasn't had a nap today and was overtired from all of the activities. I knew that she wouldn't cry too long with being so tired. Tomorrow she will wake up to find that the paci-fairy has left her a special necklace with a Mama and baby horse on it in exchange for her pacifiers.
