First ice cream of the season and lots of Sammy advancements!

Today was the most beautiful day; blue, sunny skies, warm weather (80 + degrees!!!) and not a thing that we had to do (well, I needed to get to the library to work on coursework for my grad classes, but that ended up having to wait. Who knows when we'll have another beautiful day like this!).

Adri woke up this morning and went outdoors after hearing Daddy say that it was warm (her ensemble included pjs and rain boots--if you're looking for a visual). As soon as she walked off the last step and felt the heat hit her she declared "It's summer! Look Mommy! It's warm! I don't have to wear a coat today!" She could hardly contain her excitement. She immediately ran back in, tore a summer dress down from a hanger in her closet, put on a pair of her self declared "comfortable pants" leggings (neither of which matched each other), and begged to go outdoors. I tried talking her into a nap since barely anyone has slept in this house since Wednesday night, but she refused.

After Sammy woke up from his nap we went over to Boo Boo's and P-Pa's to get ice cream and play at the playground. As we were driving over there Adri looked out her window, examining the clouds. Upon completing her examination, she exclaimed "The clouds aren't moving today. Did you know that Mama?" Matt laughed and laughed, finally getting to hear Adri and her random fact recitation first hand. I liken her to the cute little boy in Jerry McGuire, the one who's always spewing random facts. That's Adri, she always has a random fact to tell you..."Horses have big teeth, fish have fins so they swim in the water, girls have hoo hoo's and boys have pee pee's, so I am a girl and Sam is a boy, etc." I could go on and on with her list of random facts that I love to hear.

I don't know that Sammy has ever been so happy as the last few days when he's been able to crawl and play in the dirt and sand without having Mommy wipe him off and keep him clean constantly. We spent the entire afternoon playing outdoors and then came home to eat dinner outside and then play some more. Needless to say, both kids were exhausted and it only took a bath and warm milk to put them both to sleep. :)

I scream, you scream...

Look P-Pa! I found a stick! Is this a good little girl walking stick?!!!

Wait, what???!!! You don't want me to put it so close to your face??? You look nervous P-Pa!
From Spring2011

Please come back Adri! Don't leave me in this stroller while you play on the playground...It's just not fair!
From Spring2011

Finally! I get to play too! (And get dirty! I LOVE getting dirty!)

Weeeee!!! I love to swing P-Pa! You know what I love even more? Being able to get on the ground!!!
From Spring2011

We can share P-Pa! I think I know how to play that song too!

If you look closely you'll see Adri is mid bounce...She was trying to bounce poor Sam Man off.

I win! There's no way Adri's going to make me get off this trampoline!

I could SO walk right now if I really wanted to. I'm just so entertained hearing everyone talk about when I'll begin walking and taking bets on it.

Boo Boo, who's helping who here? :)
From Spring2011

Water fight time! (Which included Adri getting Sammy wet) Sammy has to put up with so much more than Adri ever had to. Her turn is coming soon though, Sammy won't take much more. :)

Adri makes me so MAD! I think I'll just bite this handle in anger until I figure out my next move.

I love to slide Daddy! Again, Again!

Look Mom! I eat my cake like a big girl, I'm not even getting messy!

I've decided my next move. I'm going to escape and join a wild wolf pack. I bet Adri's going to miss me...Do you think they'll take a naked, chocolate cake covered baby?

Over the past few days Sam Man has had some huge achievements! Apparently he's decided that having Mommy and Adri do everything for him is getting old and he needs to get his act together. He began standing unassisted on Thursday (4/7/11) for long periods of time. (I've got some great pictures capturing this that I'm going to put into another blog.)

Sammy has also started to clap and wave goodbye lately. It was so funny to watch him clap for the first time. He looked at both of his hands like they were someone else's and he wasn't sure how they were coming together to form a clapping motion. Now he claps all the time just so he can hear us cheer and see us smile. When he does it he breaks out into a big grin, like he's so proud of himself for making us so happy.

Today Sammy wanted the comb I was using to comb my hair, so I let him look at it. Jokingly, I told him to comb his hair. He put the comb up to his head, on top of his hair and started to comb it!!! I couldn't believe it, so I asked him to do it again and again, even carrying him over to show Matt his new skill. Each and every time I asked Sammy to do it, he did!!! Repeating it exactly the same way each time. I have no idea where he learned this, but I'm still floored that he can do it! :)

One more accomplishment and then I'm done gushing about adorable Sam Man. :) I brought out Adri's stacking blocks that we've had for a couple of years, thinking that Sam probably wouldn't be interested in them since Adri didn't even enjoy them until after she was two. As soon as I stacked them up Sam was right there, excited to knock them down. I told him to put the block on top of the other one, showing him how to do it (which he immediately knocked down). He then took the block and stacked it on top of the other one and did it again until they were three high. Then he proceeded to knock them over. He did this a couple more times, pretty excited that he was doing something Mommy was so excited about too.

I'm in such awe at how quickly Sammy is growing up. Just yesterday we were wondering if he was ever going to begin doing these little milestones and then the next day he packs them all into one day. (It's so fantastic to be there to witness them firsthand and be able to then describe them in a blog right after to preserve the memories. I wish that I had blogged when Adri was younger too. At least she will have all these other memories I've shared on here.) He's becoming such a big boy! 4 more days and baby Sam will be one year old! My oh my how the year has flown!
