2011 visit with E.B.

This morning we woke up to a beautiful covering of...snow. Yup, it was snowing this morning and had actually snowed enough that there was a blanket of it covering the ground.

Adri's response upon climbing up on her bed and looking outside?
Oh my gosh! It's snowing! I can't wait to go play outside Mom!

Me:
You'll have to wait for your Daddy to get home from work. It's too cold for Mama to go play outside. :) Plus, we're going to see the Easter Bunny today, so we need to get ready!

I'm not so into the cold weather, (or hot for that matter...around 60 degrees is just about perfect to me) although when I'm teaching I do love when we get crazy weather just because I love that feeling of getting a snow day. The giddiness at not having to go in and the opportunity to spend the entire unplanned day at home. It brings me right back to my childhood...I digress.

Being the nice Mommy I am, I braved this weather (what was left of it at 9 am) to bring Adri and Sam Man out to the mall for story time with the Easter Bunny. I was surprised to see that the only people attending were us and a friend and her daughter. It was great! It gave us the opportunity to visit with the Easter Bunny without being rushed and scared.

Adri was coloring as the Easter Bunny walked out of his break room. The look on her face was absolutely priceless (it's times like that that you wish you could have a picture to remember it forever!). She was clearly not expecting a six foot dressed up bunny rabbit with painted on eyes!

Me:
What were you expecting Adri? A little bunny like the one you have at home?

Adri (wide eyed, hands in mouth and whispering):
Yes

Me:
It's ok Adri, you can go look at him. Go pet him, he's nice!

She went over and looked at him very closely before petting his arm and looking at me proudly.

When it came time for the kids to visit with the bunny, Adri jumped right up next to him, petting him like they were old friends. I tried to put Sammy on the E.B's lap and Sam instantly flipped out. Apparently Sam and the bunny are not going to be friends this year. Sammy cried and tried squirming off E.B.'s lap. Adri stayed there a few minutes longer to inspect E.B. up close.

Adri:
Why do you have one tooth?

E.B.:
shakes his head yes

Adri:
Why is it dark in your mouth?

E.B.:
Shakes his head yes

Me:
Uh, that's because you can't see in there...So, um...it's dark.

Adri:
Where are your eyelashes?

E.B.:
Head shake yes

Me:
Uh, he doesn't have any...Time to go Adri! Tell the Easter Bunny goodbye!

Adri:
The Easter Bunny must be a boy then. Bye Bunny!

Adri-ism's of the day:

"I'm going to ask the Easter Bunny for a big, big horse for Sammy when he gets bigger. Then we can ride two horses together."

"I need to brush and floss my teeth to see the Easter Bunny so I can have pretty teeth and show him that I brush and floss."

My one and only opportunity to take a picture with the Easter Bunny. (They allow only one photo-other option is buying their overpriced pictures.)

Here it is...Sam and Adri's Easter Bunny picture of 2011.
