Bugs aren't just for boys...

Adri was helping Daddy put wood in the wheelbarrow tonight when she found a caterpillar underneath one of the small logs. She was hesitant to pick it up at first, thinking that it might sting her (she's on a bee's sting kick lately), but quickly picked it up after Matt assured that it wouldn't hurt her.

The word "gentle" and "pet it with one finger" was said many times before we talked her into letting it go so that it didn't have to go meet it's maker this afternoon. At one point I think I even told her she couldn't go down the slide with it crawling around at the bottom because it would have to go see Jesus when she crushed it. Matt added in that she it would also leave a stain on her shirt. :)

The caterpillar is now safe and sound under a bush on the side of our house. Rest assured that it was still crawling around when she let it go. :) We made sure to put it where a bird wouldn't easily find it, since Adri has been watching the Robins looking for food lately.

After reading a butterfly book tonight, I looked up the type of caterpillar the one she found was so that she could see what it would become when it emerged. She was pretty excited to see that it was going to become a moth (she doesn't know the difference between a moth and butterfly, to her they both fly) and fly through the air. Here is a link to information on the one we found:

Look what I found!!! I'm going to hug it and squeeze it and love it! Forever! It's curled up in a ball right now because it's a little bit scared.
