Adri's new bed...

It just occurred to me how quickly things change when you are a child. One day you're this itty bitty small little baby and an only child and the next you're a three year old with a one year old brother! It's scary how life is all about change when all we really want is for it to stay the same.

Speaking of change, we switched Adri from her toddler bed that used her old crib mattress and put her in a twin x-long bed yesterday. I've noticed lately that she' frequently sleeping in the fetal position and thought it was probably due to her getting too long for the toddler bed. She was pretty excited to have a real big girl bed in her room and spent time arranging her stuffed animals and then jumping on it. Life with a new bed was great, until bedtime came around and the thought of actually sleeping in it occurred to her.

Adri: Mommy, I can't sleep in my big girl bed. It's scary.
Me: Why?
Adri: It's really big and I'm scared.

I attempted to lay down and cuddle with her when I first put her to bed but she was far too excited to go to sleep. After hearing two or three horse stories as told by Adri, I decided to let her lay in there alone and relax.

She spent the time between when she went to bed (7:30) and when we went to bed (10) coming out of her room to ask a question or make a comment before being sent back into her own room. She finally went to bed when we did and didn't wake up until 9 a.m.! This is a record for Adri! She NEVER sleeps that late, not even when she was a baby!

This afternoon she and I laid down to take a nap in my bed, which is our daily routine (and the only way I've gotten her to keep taking her much needed naps). She spent a few minutes in there with me before asking me if she could go sleep in her own bed. As astonished as I was, I told her yes. After a few minutes I listened and didn't hear anything (I expected to hear her playing) so I went into her bedroom to find her in her bed almost asleep. Surprise! I think she's enjoying having an actual bed that's padded and comfortable instead of her crib mattress.

Another big change happening is Sammy choosing to walk as his main form of transportation. He's been taking steps, but today he's chosen to walk most of the day and has been toddling after Adri where ever she goes. Ahhh, such a sweet sight!
