Daddy's special bear

Adri attempted to refuse yet another nap today, but Mommy outsmarted her. (Gotta love it when that happens!) She had had a total meltdown at lunch and I told her that she would be taking a nap this afternoon. Reluctantly, she brought her stinky blanky and her Daddy's old teddy bear that he used to sleep with when he was a child (a teddy bear that she doesn't normally take to bed with her) into my bed for her nap.

Adri (holding up the bear): Mommy, this is Daddy's special bear.

Me: I know! Daddy LOVED that bear when he was a little boy. He used it when he took a nap or went to bed at night.

Adri: I can't take a nap though, my eyes won't close.

Me: Your eyes will close Adri, if you let them. Daddy used to take naps and he didn't argue when he was a little boy. He just cuddled his bear and went to sleep.

Adri: Really? Did he cuddle it like this? (Putting her arms around it)

Me: Oh yes! He would turn on the music, cuddle it just like that and his eyes would close right away.

Adri: Oh. He did love this bear then.

Me: Yes he did. Now close your eyes and listen to the music.

The next thing I knew, she was sleeping!!! I wonder if Daddy's magic teddy bear will work again tomorrow? :)

Adri-ism of the day:

While I was doing my hair today:

Mommy, your pretty. You have beautiful hair. Mommy, you're beautiful and so is your hair. You're the prettiest Mommy.

Mommy, we don't say sh*t. Sh*t is a naughty word. We don't say I want, I want, and we don't say that people have big boobies either.

As she's reading a book about horses to her stuffed horse:
Look! That's you horsey! Do you see yourself?

Sammy-isms:
Ay dr i!

Ilubyou!

Bye Bye!

Upsy Daisy!

Peaboo!
